Accidental meatballs

Post by ssorllih » Sun Oct 30, 2011 17:41

This morning I was stuffing some sausage and when the grinder stopped pushing I added a good handful of cooked rice to push out the last link.
That left the rice and some meat still in the grinder and tube. I dug that out by hand and rolled it into little balls and poached it for several minutes in some ham stock. (its what I had). They are good.

Ross
Are you saving the larger one in the middle for company? Looks rather large could be portioned
Which reminds me, I plan on putting together a venison meat pie tomorrow, and maybe I will try a pork mix also, with the venison.

Ross,

Those look like very appetizing Meatballs, I will no longer waste the bit of meat left in the tube.
I may even roll them around a block of cheese as well.

If you search deeply enough you find a recipe for venison mince meat that I posted back in the dark ages.. Very good use and very pleasing.

If you can't find it I will post it again. It was published in the farm journal cookbook about 35 years ago.
