I can attest to the baking soda, peroxide, and dish detergent working fantastically to getting the smell off the dog's fur as well. The trick is to make a paste and apply it to the dog as quickly as possible, BEFORE you get the fur wet. So don't "presoak" the dog. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse off completely. Dog got skunked last year, and within 15 minutes had her cleaned up with this technique and she was back in the house WITH NO SMELL! I couldn't believe it at all, I thought I was royally screwed!
I'm not sure what you pay for that skunk off product but you may want to try the home remedy next time, it's got to be a lot cheaper.
