Rather sad to see that some people can't be civil in their discontent.

I don't see how that was malicious at all. All I stated was I liked the recipe and was going to use it, just dropping the cure and using fresh garlic as opposed to garlic powder. Screw this, good luck Red. RAY

Ahhh. I'd love to sign up, but unfortunately, you must have a Google account to sign up, and that is something I simply won't do.

Congratulations to CW and El Ducko on their new venture. I'm sure that they will make a meaningful contribution to the entire community of sausage hobbyists and provide some cow kickin' entertainment to boot. At the same time I hope that the ranks of the malcontents will find now find peace and refocus on what this site is all about. All of us have the freedom to visit and participate in any forum that we like and feel comfortable in. And if we are going to post anywhere, we will be courteous, respectful and tolerant of others and their opinions.

Forums don't have knowledge it is forum contributors who have knowledge - now with Chiuck.n.Duk I have four sausage related forums to follow each with contributors I value.

Shushwap is definately right here and clearly undertands what an internet forum is and how it operates.

Here is the dictionary definition:

a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

And if you look at this forum's answers to frequently asked questions you will see the following:
What are Moderators?
Moderators are individuals (or groups of individuals) whose job it is to look after the running of the forums from day to day. They have the power to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move, delete and split topics in the forum they moderate. Generally moderators are there to prevent people going off-topic or posting abusive or offensive material.

So as Shushwap inferred, it is the contributors that constitute the foundation and the rest of the building blocks of a forum. While a moderator may add value to the entity, in the end, it is the contributors who define and shape it. So it is not my intention to make this forum "my forum" or want people to take sides and join a forum as one chooses a political party or religion. I shop at several grocery stores, each has it's merits and drawbacks. And the same goes for the several sausage making forums on the internet.

I would like to thank the great majority of you in understanding this and being level-headed throughout the unfortunate and in my opinion, unnecessary events that over the past two months derailed this particular gathering place.

To those of you who have been vaulting abuse, spreading disinformation and throwing anger tantrums, I am asking you to return to civility and if you are going to post here, consider your action for a moment before you press the send button. In the end, you are doing more harm to yourself than to this community.

Everyone has strengths and knowledge none of us have complete knowledge. In the case of Chuckwagon and Ducky there is a strong knowledge of microbiology and chemistry and both of them are very competent sausage makers. There are many others here that are also excellent sausage makers.
In our parish church we have one active priest and two retired priests they each have attributes that enrich the parish.
All of us here are able to contribute constructively to the craft of charcutiere.

My sincere thanks to nearly all of the WD forum members, and especially RedZed, for responding in gentlemanly manner. Those others who didn`t- - back off and be civil, or I`ll send CW after ya with... (uh... oops. ...fergot where I was.)

By gentlemanly, I refer to such posts as
RedZed wrote: I'm sure that they will make a meaningful contribution to the entire community of sausage hobbyists and provide some cow kickin' entertainment to boot. At the same time I hope that the ranks of the malcontents will find now find peace and refocus on what this site is all about.
We hope to provide both sausage knowledge AND our Ol` West shtick, and hope you`ll enjoy it. ...or not. Sometimes we go a "bit over the top." (At others... well, you know. "Mea culpa," as the lawyers say, although not frequently enough.) That's a nice motto, by the way: "Peace/Focus/Sausage". It has a nice ring to it. (...sorta like ring bologna?)(Okay. Sorry about that one.)

As Shuswap has pointed out,
Shuswap wrote: Forums don't have knowledge it is forum contributors who have knowledge - now with Chuck.n.Duk, I have four sausage related forums to follow each with contributors I value.
, emphasis mine. Let`s all further the hobby in our own way.

As Ross Hill said,
ssorllih wrote:All of us here are able to contribute constructively to the craft of charcutiere.
...and that`s the truth.

As to the issue of Google Galactic Domination,
Tasso wrote: ...I'd love to sign up, but unfortunately, you must have a Google account to sign up, and that is something I simply won't do.
Fortunately, you don`t have to join Google if you don`t want to. ...sorry if I implied that. As our Aussie members will attest, an email account with ANY internet service provider works. I don`t know how the name/handle is managed if it`s not a Google item, but hey! Let`s find out, okay? ...before the Evil Empire completes its takeover of the galaxy.

Ol` Chuckles and I both check in from time to time because, as was noted by several folks above, there are a number of good sources of sausage-related information on the internet and WD is certainly one of the best. "Best regards," as Chuckwagon would say (and he really means it). And while I`m not being very original (what else is new?), I`ll add "So long, and thanks for the fish," as the porpoises say in "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy." ...and as the Governator often says, "Ah`ll be baaaack!"

I look at a lot of forums and will contribute where I can on this forum and CW and elDucko's. There is so much to learn. Someone commented on this site about the point at which you start asking fewer questions and are able to give something back in the way of answers. That is something to strive for.

Earlier this year I decided to get back into photography. I bought a better camera. I started asking questions. I posted a picture of a coppa that I had set the wrong white balance on. One of the comments was a sarcastic comment that included the words disgusting slab of meat. I threw back a comment on trolling; no one on the forum thought that there was anything wrong with this persons comments. I did get back a kinda back down from the person. The result is that I will not bother again with that forum. I also dropped out of another forum when the fine print said that by contributing to this forum you agree to give away all your rights to your comments and the owner gets the rights to use your recipes in their next book. I am more than willing to share my ideas, but not for others to make money from my ideas.

I'm happy to see that things worked out well for all concerned. Like Shuswap, I also belong to four different sausage forums now and I feel there's plenty of room on the internet for all of them to be relevant and prosper. I wish all the best for the continued success of this site, and for the future of CW and Duk's new venture. RAY

Dear friends,
For some time on this forum there have been expressions of dissent caused by a lack of understanding of some of the fundamental issues involved. I am the owner of the web portal wedlinydomowe.pl. which includes the Polish and English language forums. While we don't have seem to have any serious problems on the Polish forum, it is here that things have been fomenting. Perhaps I am the cause of all this, but after reading the posts, I don't think I'm the only one to bear the blame.

A forum needs to have a team of moderators, which is necessary to carry out continuous monitoring and maintain compliance with regulations. In addition, the moderators have the task of providing assistance to the many different forum members. From the start, we had a team of moderators on this forum, but what evolved was that my colleague Chuckwagon became the only active moderator. He performed his duties very well, and I am extremely grateful to him. However, with the recent production of the technological video series, there arose a need to appoint another moderator, familiar with the Polish language, who would be a link between me and your forum. We want to offer you the English version of these videos as soon as possible. My decision was to ask redzed, whom I have known for many years, to perform this function. Unfortunately, CW did not like this idea. By virtue of his seniority and status on the forum, CW requested that this be formalized and that he be designated in name and in function as the "Senior Moderator". I approved this and gave him my assurance that there was no intent in redzed's appointment as a moderator, to diminish CW's status on the forum, but to solely act a liaison between me and the forum. Still, this was not enough.

Ladies and gentlemen, as the owner of the website and the forum, I am responsible for maintaining a conflict free forum environment. Obviously, the final decisions in its operation are solely mine. My current plans are the distribution of the videos and the continuation of the improvement in the quality of the forum. These priorities will not change.

I also hope that CW will understand this and resume his work in directing a group of moderators on this forum. Once again, I strongly emphasize that I am very pleased with the work my friend Chuckwagon has been doing, and appointing redzed or any other additional moderator, is absolutely not an attempt to undermine his work or status. This post is an attestation of this.

I extend warm greetings, and look forward to our continued and uninterrupted cooperation.

Maxell
