I'm all in but I must confess I will need to eat some extra meat before these days come because just the very thought makes me crave an extra helping.

If this is part of your religion and you can eat fish rather than red meat on Friday I read something I found really interesting in the book Salt: A World History. In the book he explained how whalers weren't just after the blubber for oil like I was always taught but they were after the whale flesh as well since it was considered a fish but the flesh tasted like beef so technically it could be eaten on Fridays. I found this interesting. Lots of good information in this book and a pretty good read even though it sounds like it would be a boring read.

Yes. I do have fish every Friday. Have not tried a whale roast on the smoker yet!

  Best get the wet stone to your harpoon. We don't have many whales down my way but we do have manatees which are also known as sea cows which makes me go into deep thought when they come up next to my boat. I won't share my thoughts other than they are food related.

I actually have whales pass right in front of our house. We are on the coast in Nova Scotia!

Once or twice. I like them fried like chicken fingers best though. However, I rarely kill them because I have a terrible problem with beavers and I'm told they will eat beavers and I need all the help I can get controlling these nuisance animals. BTW - if you want a good sausage, try beaver sausage or simply cook it like steak. Its delicious. Tastes like high quality beef.

I grew up in Alberta and we had a lot of beavers. We would harvest and eat them. Very good sweet meat. Beaver population is as high or if not higher than when the fur trade started in north America with the Hudson's Bay company.

When I lived up in New Hampshire I used to go to Elks Club Game Suppers. The best meat all around that I had was beaver hands down
