upright freezer into a smoker

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far-far away, somewhere on the internet, a gentleman posted how and why he used a surplus upright freezer to build his smoker. There were lots of pictures in a well thought paper complete with part numbers for remote temperature controllers from Grainger and other vendors. He went into why he had an internal, aftermarket humidifier with sensors.

Of course I bookmarked the link and just as normal, now I can`t find the thing. If anyone saw and remembers this article and better yet knows where to go and find it, I`d appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Louis,
Just make sure everything inside is metal, preferable stainless, I have converted a scrapped bread proofer, all stainless inside and out and sell for a scrap stainless price. These units are insulated as well. I have no internal humidifier, as we have most of the year high humidity and temperatures anyway.
Keep me informed if somebody sends you the link. Must be some interesting reading!
Cheers,
Jan

Appreciate the links and other information. All are interesting, but I'm still searching for the original document that had part numbers for temp controllers, and hydrometers that controlled the humidifier. If I ever find it, I'll share the link/site.

zjarhead, the instructions for converting an upright freezer into a curing chamber are same as converting an all-fridge into a curing chamber. Just make make sure that it is a frost-free type.

To the best of my failing memory, this looks almost like what I remember with the exception of starting out with a freezer.

Thanks much and I now have a new project.

Hi
The eBay seller as below was the one that I purchased the eBook for the conversion that I used for the upright freezer conversion.
https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/bbqhqnet

I haven't visited him for a while but do see now that he doesn't have any eBooks available on his sight.
Send him an email as you are describing his equipment to a tee.
