curing/fermenting chamber heat source?

I've read that exposure to light will make fat go rancid. But I noticed many out there in internet land have curing chambers that use some sort of a light to raise the temperature when the ambient temperature is lower than what you need.

Have you guys had any problems? What else would you suggest using? I would think something like a hot plate may raise the temperatures up too fast too hot. I ddont know, what do you think?

Piercing a large tin can and placing it over the light will solve the problem of the light. A dimmer switch and a careful choice of lamp wattage will help to control the rate of temperature change.

Ross has it right. I put my heat source low so it's easy to cover with a foil pan.

In this picture it looks like the bulb is going to burn the cord from the humidifier.

Lay a ceramic tile on the power cord.

It's an old average size fridge.

The one that I have is a pad heater, kind of like the electric heating pads from a drug store.
I got it for a dollar at a yard sale.
