Mincer in Oz
Mincer in Oz
Hi Guys
I up for buying a mincer and would like recommendations for a 240V unit that can used here Downunder.
Would prefer to buy it here in Oz as i reckon the shipping would kill me on a heavy item.
Cheers

Hi Steve
It is also a good idea to have one knife for every mincer plate and keep them as a set . They will wear together and do a much better job
The Italian made ones are very good but are expensive, like reber or tre spade. Dont buy the small kitchen ones like i did once. They are useless. I would get either a 22 or 32. I have a 42 but it is too big. Try Sydney supply co.

Steve,
The #22 all stainless mincer with 2 knives and 4 discs sell for around $ 4-500 dollars some sellers ship for free.
When we used to make salami long ago, everything was hand minced, a big hand mincer works very well, they are cheap too, especially as an interim solution.
Beats a bloody Kenwood hands down, they don't mince and stuff very good, just buy a hand mincer with a funnel for a proper job.
Cheers,
Jan.

Hi Corey
I ended up with an attachment for the Kenwood mixer, same as this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KENWOOD-CHEF ... 232d4665c9
I ran a kg of pork scotch fillet (pork butt) through it the other day and all was good. Made excellent burgers
Cheers

Hi Steve. just bought a Trespade #22 mincer from butcherquip in Perth and various size mincer plates. Works well and are on special at the moment for $599. Used yesterday for the first time and seems very well made. I have a much bigger one but although good for big jobs is a pain in the rear if you only want to mince a couple of kilos.

I broke my mincer attachment for the Kenwood yesterday, so I have been researching a standalone.
I found a really good fully stainless steel #12 on Ebay. It's H-TK-M12 model, and should be here in a couple of days. It's $439 and should be well and truly up to the task. Comes with 4 plates and 2 knives.
Anything bigger would be overkill, since I only make small volumes of sausages.

oneills, Hi, just saw you have purchased the tre spade #22 mincer. Ive been tossing up between this, or the Reber or Fabio Leonardi machines.
I just wondered if your happy with the machine, ive been told the cover makes them overheat if you use them for a long time.
I do about 100 to 150kg of meat once a year for salami, do you think it would be big enough for that? any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Rick
