Lem #8 Grinder

Whoopee - just did my first grind on the new #8. What a treat after the old noisy under powered Moulinex. I went for the #8 because I only do batches around 5 lbs each.

I was surprised at how quiet it is. The big bite auger is as advertised - picks up the meat cubes and runs them through with no need of the pusher. I did use it a couple of times when grinding the back fat. I really like the heavy weight of the parts and how easy it is to clean up.

Another new item for me was using a piece of frozen bread to clear the auger. I had ground the back fat last and the frozen bread cleared the auger completely. We eat multi-grain bread (home made Ross) and it was easy to see when the fat was through and the bread was coming.

Mid-week I get to make Brats - Yahoo!

# 8 is not a small grinder.
At the end you can also trow in some ground meet to clear the left over piece, so when you take it apart, you have only ground meet in it.

Did you buy the aluminium one or the stainless steel one?
Just been looking at their site and thinking that I need one as well!
