How To Build A Home Made Curing Chamber... By Uwanna
Redzed, that looks great. Have you read any reviews on it to see how well it performs? Where did you order it from?

No, decided to take a flyer on it without reading reviews, it just seems to be a good idea, especially since it is a dual function. It is designed to handle the temp and humidity ranges necessary for curing. I believe it is designed for hydrophonic operations. (So if I fail in Salami curing, I can always get into the gro-op business!).
I ordered it through Amazon for $106 with free shipping to US addresses. I am having mine shipped to a Blaine Washington warehouse and will pick it up when I'm driving through there in a couple of weeks.

Redzed, I looked at the unit online and it seems that the humidity control is for de-humidify only. Is that what you wanted? I would think you would need a humidy controller that can increase humidity also. Maybe I'm wrong.

Im not sure it would work like that. Lets say you want 50% humidity and the current humidity is 60%. It would activate your device plugged in to dehumidify, in your case a humidifier. BUt the humidity wouldnt come down it would just keep going up and never shut off. Or am I thinking about it wrong? I've never done this before.redzed wrote:I noticed that also but reasoned that it simply shuts off the power to either a humidifier or a dehumidifier when the desired RH is reached. But I may be wrong here and will check.

Just found this post on another site that might be helpful. It's a modification for that unit.

Yes, the above mentioned controller is for dehumidification.
The Dayton controller is what many of us are using for curing; it works well.

yeah that's the one I use too, and for temp control a lot of folks use this:

Together they cost about $100, not counting shipping. I got my Dayton RH controller at Grainger, because there is one in town where I could pick it up at willcall, thus no shipping.
There are a lot of Grainger branchs in WA. Not sure where you were going to pick up your stuff there....

This is the one I use in my walk-in cooler when I do dry curing. It works extremely well but is very pricey (I paid half of what it costs now - then again, I bought mine 10 years ago). It controls both temp and humidity:
