Chuckwagon We start out with steelhead roe form fish that we catch here in lake Erie. Then the first female salmon we land we gut her and it's all salmon roe from there. I did not mention that we do use a boat no fishing from shore for me it's a straight up cliff no climbing up or down for me, but people do get down there somehow. We go as far as you can up the river past the power plants to Devils gorge. It's not for the first time fisherman. The largest one I landed was 34 Lbs I have lost a few fish that had to be 50 Lbs :cry: They are starting to run this time of year, I like to go first week of Oct but I have been there in Nov. and fishing was just as good. If you fish the lake you can I here you catch them all summer in deep water. I've never been on the lake to try. As far as smoking one I have never tried but am looking forward to it. There was a shop in town that did all are fish smoking but he retired and nobody took over.

Hi LongmontHort and welcome aboard! Longmont is a beautiful part of Colorado and I've been there several times. Looking forward to chatting with you. Are you an "old hand" or a beginner? Let us know what kind of sausage you like. You're going to love this Polish site. Everyone here seems pretty outgoing and helpful to others. Glad to have you here LongmontHort. Seminole says there are a few changes coming to the forum soon. Hmm, I wonder what he's got in mind? Maybe he'll let us in on a few more secrets eh?

Yes, Longmont is located at the feet of the Rocky Mountains. My wife and I took a drive up to picnic in the mountains a week ago and were surprised by the early beautiful fall colors. Aspen groves turning gold all around us!

I'm just about to start my trek in sausage making. I've been to Poland a few years back and had some of the best sausage on earth. We've got friends who lived in Koszalin at the time and have now moved to Warsaw. My youngest daughter went back to Koszalin and the surrounding area with a team from our church two summers ago.

I've just purchased three of Stanley Marianski's books and have started reading the Polish Sausage book this week. His mention of this website is how I found this group! Looking forward to learning lots from everyone. I don't yet have a favorite sausage, but another friend who led my team told me to look in to Krakow sausage. It would be great to be able to have some authentic sausages for our friend from Warsaw when he comes to visit this next year.

We had a great sausage grilling party at the home of another family while in Koszalin. Wow, what a meal! Grilled around a large fire pit in the back yard - a selection of sausages, fresh rolls, onions and peppers, makes me hungry just thinking about it.

I was surprised at the lush forrests in the Northwestern portion of the county. Beautiful landscape and vibrant fields of poppies dotting the roadside among the commercial fields of rape seed.

Hey Michael, when I invent the perfect sausage and become a millionaire, I'm going to explore Poland from the back of a new Harley Davidson. Of course I'm going to stop by rural New York to pick up DaveZac. Wanna come with us? You can ride on the handlebars! I've just got to see if Chudziak (Olga) in Kowale, really makes teeth and if she'll make me a new bottom row! I wore out my old ones knawing on the wrong kind of sausage before I discovered Kabanosy! :roll:
Oh boy, there is plenty of BS in eastern Utah.... (BS stands for "bean sprouts", of course!)

Hey Sausagemakers, Saturday (Oct. 9th) is LongmontHort's birthday. Happy Birthday Michael! Are you doing anything special today? Be careful with that many candles on your cake - I'd hate to see you start the house on fire. Hmmm, if you plan to light all the candles at once, it could be called a conflagtration!

Thanks Guys! :wink: Yes, it was a good day to celebrate - it is also my oldest daughter's birthday!

I've been off my feet for the last couple months after ankle surgery and I'm missing my gas grill and Weber charcoal grill. I've ordered Stan and Adams book on Fermented Sausages so am looking forward to taking more time to read through the whole collection.
